My name is Raumesh Akbari, and I am excited to serve Tennessee House District 91.
As the daughter of Lisa Macklin-Akbari and Hooshang Akbari, I am proud of my family’s deep roots in this South Memphis community. My mother graduated from Hamilton High School in 1977 and grew up in the Bunker Hill neighborhood, where my grandmother still resides. Some of my favorite childhood memories were formed during the summers I spent in this beautiful community, where I played with my sister, friends and cousins in Lincoln Park.
I’m excited to focus my efforts on the community I love by utilizing my legal training, extensive leadership experience and my strong understanding of Tennessee government. A law background exposed me to the legislative process and has given me a foundation to craft bills based on thoughtful research, work with fellow legislators, and debate a wide range of issues on behalf of the district’s constituents.
I am humbled and inspired to fill the seat previously held by the Honorable Lois DeBerry. I realize that I stand on the shoulders of a great leader and it is an honor to continue her legacy of service to the community.
My interest in pre-k education, better health care for senior citizens, blight in the neighborhoods, unemployment for the underserved, environmental injustice, housing and street maintenance are just a few of the issues I support and will work towards improvement.
I have always been passionate about serving my community and I’m ready to listen to your concerns and work hard to find solutions.
I ask for your trust. I ask for your support. I ask for your vote.
